Skills that Last a Lifetime
The benefits of fundraising
Fundraising helps students learn important life skills
Students learn fundamental life skills such as teamwork, creativity, customer service and goal setting. All of these and more are incorporated into fundraising efforts and ties in to academics. Asking for donations or selling items helps students learn how to reason and speak to others in a clear, friendly way. Fundraising also teaches students the importance of meeting deadlines, reaching goals, develop business skills and how to handle money.
Fundraising strengthens school community
Research shows that students do better when schools and communities communicate and work together.
BHMS student fundraising initiatives:

We are so proud and grateful to have such a dedicated and supportive community in pursuit of Terry’s dream of a world without cancer. #terryfoxschoolrun Thank you again for your continued efforts and commitment!”
Junior High Marketplace
Junior High students develop their business plan and showcase their goods and services to the BHMS Community on Marketplace Day, experiencing a day in the life of an entrepreneur.
A portion of the students earnings is given to our sister school in Lesotho, thereby helping students to understand the importance of their responsibility to help others.
Pearls 4 Girls
Through the making and sales of beautiful pearl jewellery, students raised $900.00 to support programs that help girls build confidence, acquire leadership skills and get the support they need so they can become positive role models and agents of change.
The fundraising money we have raised over past years have bought uniforms (a prerequisite to attending school in Lesotho) and school furniture, blankets, dental hygiene kids and small solar lights for the children of our desolate twin school to do homework.
